Baseball Instructors
Josh Cales – Baseball Instructor (Pitching, Hitting, Fielding)
Josh comes to us from the University of Toledo after finishing playing four years of division one college baseball. Josh was recruited to the University of Toledo as a pitcher. After a full year of arm trouble following a rotator cuff surgery in high school, Josh’s doctors said his days on the mound were over. Josh convinced his coaches to let him try his hand at the plate and ended up making starts for the Rockets at first base, left field, and designated hitter. While developing himself at the plate, Josh continued to rehab his shoulder and study proper throwing mechanics. After two full years of rehab, Josh was able to spend his final years at UT as a closer for the Rockets in addition to making occasional starts in the field. This journey taught Josh to not only study adding velocity on the mound, but also how to do it in a sustainable manner. Josh completed a bachelor’s and master’s degree while at the University of Toledo and now works full time as a civilian contract specialist for the Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
Lance Durham – Baseball Instructor (Hitting, Fielding)
Lance was a first-team all-GCL selection as a junior and a senior at Roger Bacon High School and finished his collegiate career as a Cincinnati Bearcat where his .427 average in 2009 was an all-time best at UC. He also set the single-season record for hits (99), breaking former Bearcat Kevin Youkilis’ record (96) from 1999. Durham signed with the Toronto Blue Jays, which took him in the 14th round of the 2009 draft. Lance spent time in the minor leagues for both the Toronto Blue Jays and Detroit Tigers. Lance has provided lessons for several years, served as a head coach at the high school varsity level and is currently a coach at University of Cincinnati Clermont.
Zach Williams – Baseball Instructor (Pitching, Hitting, Fielding)
Zach comes to DNA after a four year career at Ohio Christian University. Before OCU, Zach was a 4x All District and All Region team at Bracken County High School in Kentucky. He went on to OCU to pitch for 4 seasons with a ERA of 3.57. After elbow troubles Zach took a year off for Tommy John surgery, and now plays in the MABL in Columbus. He also runs a youth select program and is the varsity high school pitching coach in Greenfield.
